GREENVILLE, S.C. (September 2026) — A private gentlemen’s club in the London tradition is planned for downtown Greenville. The Upland Club will offer simulated driven shoots, cocktails made from bottles members keep on site, and afternoon tea, in rooms styled after the English country-house world seen in the TV series The Gentlemen. The Club will open once enough founding members sign on, and enquiries are open now.

The London kind of gentlemen’s club. The name is meant in the old sense: a private members’ club of the type that grew up around London’s sportsmen and explorers, with leather seating, mahogany paneling, and unhurried service. The Club’s styling is inspired in part by The Gentlemen. Interiors are by House of Ford Interiors, and the building has exposed brick, 15-foot ceilings, and its original hardwood floors.

Simulated driven shoots. Members shoot on a True Clays simulator using their own guns, including simulated driven-shoot days that recreate the format seen on English estates. The Club also holds driven-shoot etiquette dinners and gun fittings, and keeps a secure gun room with cleaning and FFL services.

Private bespoke cocktails. Each member gets a personal locker for bottles kept on site behind the bar. Bar staff build a cocktail menu for that member around what is in the locker, so a member’s drinks are made from their own bottles.

Afternoon tea. Elevenses, a coffee service, and afternoon tea take the place of a formal lunch. The Club welcomes spouses and families as well as members.

Members can also order from downtown Greenville restaurants. Club staff collect the orders from the restaurants’ kitchens, and a service kitchen at the Club replates them on English china. A group can order from several restaurants and eat together at one table.

The Club was founded by Mike Giebelhausen, director of the Customer Experience Initiative at the Clemson University College of Business and a former professor at the Cornell Hotel School. The idea began as a concept developed for a service design class. The Club is developed in cooperation with BOH Ventures.

The Club will open once enough founding members sign on. Prospective members can join the interest list.
